Berco has always invested enormous resources to consolidating its unquestionable market leadership and ensuring that the products are always the benchmark for competition.
The areas of major focus have always been innovation and continual improvement of products and materials, carefully planed optimisation of production processes in lean manufacturing perspective, development and training of human resources and – last but not least – the adoption of cutting-edge technological and production solutions.
In particular, with regards to the latter, the constant research for more competitive edge has spurred to develop and complete major systems which are one-of-a-kind in their field of application, such as for example:
– maxi-Press and Midi-Press hot forging lines: some of the largest screw presses in the world, the first with a capacity of 32,000 tons and the second of 16,000, make Berco the only company capable of forging large size undercarriage components for mining applications;
– circular rolling mills with four mandrels: for rolling front welded bare wheel rings in one step;
– fast link forging line: developed on Berco’s specific design, this is a 3150 ton mechanical press for hot forging medium links for high production frequencies and reducing the need for billets with respect to conventional processes;
High-temperature case-carburising furnaces: these new furnaces, developed specifically for Berco, can reach unprecedented case-carburising temperatures;
– deep grinding: these machine implement creep-feed technology originating in the automotive sector and have revolutionised joint link production, making Berco the benchmark for the undercarriage market.
