Founded 90 years ago as a small specialized company serving agricultural tractor repairs, Berco has gradually become a manufacturer of considerable size and leader in the field of production of tracked vehicle components, equipment for overhauling the undercarriages of earth moving machinery and manufacture of machine tools for the reconditioning of internal combustion engines.
The experience it has gained over decades of activity, its constant search for new technological solutions and the high quality of its products are the company's best introduction.
In January 1989 Berco took over SIMMEL factory in Castelfranco Veneto (Treviso), in 1998, the forgings company FILS of Busano (Torino) and in october 2007 the Forteq, Imola (Bologna), a company specialising in the production of frames and welded parts.
Nowaday, Berco is part of the ThyssenKrupp group and extends its responsibility over Berco of America, Berco Deutschland, BercoSul, Berco UK, Berco Shanghai and Berco Bulgaria. To know more about them, follow the links above.
Some numbers now:
The Copparo plant, the headquarter, stands on a site of about five hundred thousand square meters and has about 2400 employees; the Castelfranco factory site extends over approximately 70,000 square meters and has a workforce of about 500; the Busano factory is located on a site of 40,000 square meters and has 130 employees. the Imola factory site extends over approximately 8,000 square meters and has 60 employees.
Today, Berco operates in two manufacturing sectors of key importance. A vast area is dedicated to the design and construction of
machine for the reconditioning of internal combustion engines and undercarriage repair.
But the company's main area of activity is the design and production of
components and systems for earth-moving and special crawler-tracked machines.
UNDERCARRIAGE
DIVISION
This represents the main production
activity. Components are built for the undercarriages of
tracked vehicles manufactured by OEMs, and stocked by
authorized dealers throughout the world. Every year the plants
process over 250,000 tons of steel, producing 180,000
track chains, 1,300,000 rollers, 220,000 idlers, 160,000 sprockets and 6,000,000
track shoes.
MACHINE TOOLS DIVISION
This
division produces a wide range of machine tools and equipment
for vehicle repair industries and workshops: from small valve
seat remanufacturing devices to marine engine crankshaft
grinders and equipment overhauling and repairing of tracked
vehicle undercarriages as well. These products are well
known throughout the world where, by a long tradition, the
Berco trademark is synonymous with reliability and
quality. The ISO9000 Quality System Certificate
is
also there to prove it. |
